Connecting with your local chamber and representatives from your community is a great way to create brand awareness in your community. It also helps your company get recognized among some of the major companies in your community. It is networking at it’s highest level.
I think this is one of the missed opportunities that executives need to consider.
The past two days I have been with a local agricultural tour and I was able to meet executives from the following companies:
- The Scoular Company
- Union Pacific Railroad
- Lucky Bucket Brewing Company
- Werner Baseball Park
- Farm Credit Services of America
- Omaha Police Mounted Patrol
- Henry Doorly Zoo
- Midwest Laboratories
- Omaha Chamber
My point here is that by being an active participant with my local Omaha Chamber Office, I was able to be a part of a decision-making body and assist with the planning of this 2-day reverse agricultural tour. Guests were invited from area chambers in the State of Nebraska.
In addition, by taking time out of my day, I was able to learn first-hand some of the history and processes that take place on a day-to-day basis at some leading companies.
Take some time and connect with other companies in your area. Invite representatives from your community to visit your business. It is still one of the best ways to create some instant public relations and find connections with some of the top businesses in your community.
If you live in Omaha, you have some real opportunities in this city with some great companies. I am sure others of you can relate to your cities too. Take a moment and connect, you will not regret it.
