Your next Social Media Manager should be under the age of 25 – I commented about this article last week. The whole concept just really is strange. A number of people were irate and others like myself thought it was a little funny, but I did get tired of people talking about this story which really did not need all the attention that it got.
Twitter is down again – Hasn’t this happened before. Wait this time the whole planet is affected according to this article. In this part of the United States Twitter has been down more than it has rained. Is this really. newsworthy? If Twitter were down for a week, would you lose sales, if so, maybe you really need a serious contingency plan.
Facebook stock drops 11% today – This is the news on July 27, 2012. Really? Are all of us watching the fate of this stock. Any company that pays a billion dollars for a company less than five years old should be in trouble.
Linkedin currently leads Facebook in online recruiting. – The report indicated that Facebook is gaining on Linkedin. Seriously, you as a professional business person are going to recommend one candidate over another because of their Facebook profile. Are you looking for reasons not to hire someone? (Parties, inappropriate comments) Maybe we should be educating people looking for employment to enhance their Linkedin profiles and keep their Facebook profiles clean or locked down. I can’t imagine very many positive things coming from a Facebook profile or wall.
My point here is that information like this is becoming the news more and more. People are quick to comment and post on articles like these and add an opinion for what its worth, (not very much). It is very hard to find good, quality content about how to use these platforms to conduct business. If you have some good tips or processes that have made you have found success with, please share them. You can leave a link to your blog site or send the link to me via Twitter. I am sure I am not alone here, but once in awhile, it is amazing to look at how much time is wasted following stories like these.
