Company Blog Posts – The Difference Maker

Company Blog PostI have talked about blogging in the past and have suggested the CEO be the person who actually does the writing because of his/her knowledge expertise.

What I have learned over the past three years is the following:

Company Blogs are the best digital marketing piece because the information is available all the time. Search marketing is still growing at a steady pace. Don’t believe me, check out this blog post from Mark Collier regarding search traffic that was released this week.

Company Blogs are a great way to bring in a distinct new target marketing group. I have written posts on specific types of testing and have received a number of inquiries regarding that special niche type of testing.

Writing blog posts keeps me connected closer to clients with respect to their needs and potential solutions to their issues.

Blog posts are great conversation starters. When I attend a conference or trade show, I am able to make conversation on a wide variety of topics.

Blog posts can be presented in text format, videos and references to other people’s work.

Blog posts can build off prior posts and keep people engaged on a site.

Finally, blog posts are the best starting point and connecting point for discussions on social media sites.   Isn’t one of your goals as a social media marketer, to direct people to your blog site or company site. If you are not directing the conversation to your site where are you directing people.

Believe me, I have heard all of the excuses and have succumb to some of them at times like:

  • I don’t have time to blog, I have to work on more important tasks
  • I can get someone else to write posts
  • It’s a waste of time
  • There are really not many comments on my blog
  • It’s too much work and not enough return.

My advice to these excuses, “STOP BLOGGING“. It isn’t for everyone. Blogging will lead to results if it is directed toward a particular sector of readers. If you don’t want results over time, don’t waste your time.

Stated a different way. If you can post on a regular basis, 4-5 times a week and you do it consistently for over a year, you will see results in a big way and you will have built a great site which keeps on giving. It is a lot of work, but the payout is HUGE and the search market will always be there.  Blogging done correctly is only for the elite. For this reason, very few people really do it correctly. Start slowly, build some momentum and don’t get down.

Take a break from time to time to re-energize.

You will come back stronger and better than ever.

The “bolded words” in this post are the words which really are the difference makers. I really think these items are often overlooked and taken for granted. These words hold the key to successful company blogging.
