Wow! – Each month I take a look at the make-up of users who are checking out this site and my company blog site.
Some interesting data really pops out. Overall for 2012 most of the people accessing the site are for the most part local people. However, in the last few months more people on the coasts are accessing this site and the company site. I think this may signal some trends in the use of mobile technology and users on social media.
People want the latest news on the hot topics. If you are in tune with what users are seeing and hearing on a national level and you are adding your two cents and joining the discussion, you will see more impressions and traffic. This was especially true for the term, “bacon” on the company site. Lots of people are wanting information regarding the recent news of a rumored shortage.
The mobile numbers continue to go up, but most readers still access both sites from their PC’s.

***Something to really look at to see if your social media work is paying off****
The time spent on the site where the person was referred from a social media platform was much higher than a regular Google search. When people talk about you, others listen and spend the time to learn more. Social Media contacts can be some of the best contacts for your marketing strategy. Lower Bounce Rates, More Time Spent on Your Site.
Just some thoughts behind some of the numbers that I look at on Google Analytics.
What type of numbers do you look at? Are you seeing any trends?
