Let me define Special Advocates – These people make up a particular group of people who do not necessarily purchase your products or services, but they are very familiar with your company and the great work that it does.
My list of Special Advocates is growing daily and I try to keep them informed of company developments and my own professional developments. These people are often the go-to people that I bounce ideas off of or get advice from.
I really believe these type of people have a place in your overall marketing strategy. I have found a number of these special advocates on social media sites like Twitter, Linkedin and Google+. There are some tremendous resources online and they can help you in your decision-making and idea generation projects.
In addition, most of you have heard the following statement:
“In order to be effective you must know where your clients are talking about you online and having conversations”
Yes, this is a true statement…However, a number of people get really bummed because they are just not finding their clients online and having those conversations. I admit that I don’t have these conversations everyday.
However …… Remember this one point! – – Ask people who are successful using social media in their company and they will tell you that they have met some great people and been able to connect with people who they have been able to work with and acknowledge online. These people are special advocates.
The value of these people have really helped me gain some great understanding and insight into being able to market our services online and connect with some very knowledgeable resources. It really takes networking to a whole new level and the great part is that the access to communicating with these people is at an all-time high.
Special Advocates may not pay your bills in cash each day, but their insight, knowledge and connections could one day take you to a much higher level. I know, I have connected with some of these great advocates and I hope to continue to find these special people. You should too, if you want to make the most of your experience on social media sites.
