Social Media and the Not So Sexy Business in New York Times, 3/22/2013
Summary:It really drives home the point that we need to think differently. There are way too many companies pushing cookie-cutter approaches to social media marketing. This is your business and you need to find the right mix of platforms, communications and content to make it work.
What are your biggest fears with respect to social media?
- Is it ROI?
- Is it the time involved?
Identify your fears and start knocking them down. Videos were a huge fear of mine in the past. Now, I am seeing a lot of results by working with a professional company and defining the proper goals we wanted to achieve with respect to these videos. Go and check out the videos I hare released this year at Midwest Laboratories.
Use social media to fit your needs. For me, it starts with content on your company blog site. For some of you it may be a Facebook page or some other site. Find something that resonates with you and your clients and go after it. You will be surprised at the results you can achieve, if you plan it out and track your progress.
