Content Management is the new “buzzword” for marketing. If you have been blogging for more than a year, you understand what content marketing is and how it is such a powerful way to connect your company to your clients.
Thought Leadership is another term I am beginning to hear more and more. Check out this definition.
Thought leadership should be an entry point to a relationship. Thought leadership should intrigue, challenge, and inspire even people already familiar with a company. It should help start a relationship where none exists, and it should enhance existing relationships. Source: What is Thought Leadership- 5 Steps to Get it Right – Forbes Article; January 30, 2013
“Thought Leadership is about being a leader in your community, locally and online and developing relationships by listening, leading and doing.” by Brent Pohlman, April 16, 2013
Someone asked me the other day how business was going, I told them I had made a few changes at the beginning of the year and I am seeing a lot of results because of those changes. Those changes are well-rooted in “Thought Leadership”. It is the key differential this year. Having direction, tracking results and listening all the time makes all the difference. These paticular actions are nothing new, but the channels have changed and the pace and activity have definitely accelerated. You are either ready or you are scrambling. I would lean more toward the scrambling stage because client service is a premium in our company.
Thought Leadership – It is a term that you will hear more and more and I believe it will catch on. I would invite you to read the Forbes article referenced above and start looking for ways to integrate the five principles into your own business.
