For the most part, I work with Facebook, Linkedin, Twitter, Pinterest and Google Plus.
I have found it very interesting that potential clients will connect with my personal brand and others will connect with the company brand.
This is where you can really connect with some great people in your discipline like marketing or from a company representative with respect to a topic or post. I can also share some personal information from time to time with friends. By having a personal brand, I am able to connect directly with people and grow the business both professionally and commercially.
Professionally – I have gained a wealth of knowledge on the marketing side by being able to share information with others and learn from some of the best in the business.
Commercially – I become a face for the company and people like to connect with people. It actually helps build your own company brand at the same time.
This is absolutely crucial from a brand awareness point of view. People need to know that your company exists, is alive, is a contributor, is a leader, is accessible and is a regular member on social media platforms.
It is here that companies can tell their stories and share helpful information to their clients and followers. Brand awareness is the focus for our company brand on social media. So many companies try social media, do not see much value and quit. If your brand can show that it is a consistent entity on social media, people will recognize your brand and will ultimately seek you out if they have a need. In addition, it is important that you continue to be on people’s radar. The best way I have found to do this is to share a blog post on social media. I am finding more and more people are receptive to this type of sharing, because most link shares are more about today’s news and I think people are looking for more.
Social Media Implementation
Often times, people wonder where to begin with respect to social media. I would encourage you to setup two id’s. You will make mistakes, better to make those mistakes on your personal brand than your company brand.
In addition, you will grow professionally, always a great way to grow personally and professionally. Connect with the best and don’t worry about the rest. Why would you want to connect with everyone. Connecting with the best people will make you better. Connecting with everyone could bring you down a bit.
Finally, grow some exposure for your company. Get your company out in front of people. Talk about things that will connect with people who might be interested in your company. You want to connect with a smaller group of people. You want advocates for your brand, you do not want everyone to connect with you, especially those who have no interest.
Get out there and share your brand (Personal | Company) with others.
