One thing I have noticed with social media is that people are doing a lot more reading and retweeting and producing less interesting content and discussions on social media platforms. I believe a little apathy is setting in. I think the luster and freshness of social media is on the downward side.
This may seem like a very negative article up to this point and I know many of you will disagree with these first few statements. My point is many of us have already put in our time learning the ins and outs of social media and we have refined our plan to maximize our time and we can see results from our efforts.
Right now is the time to really spend your time and efforts developing your content. Make your content interesting to the readers that matter the most to you. Don’t try to write general articles that try to appeal to a wide range of readers. Write about topics that others are not focusing on. Take a strong stand and share your opinions on topics. Don’t just write what other people are saying.
What I am finding is that people have less time and they are making decisions much faster than we realize. People are reading social media posts and attached conent, (blog posts, website promotions) but do not have the time to retweet them or write comments.
- If you write content that resonate, people will tell you about it in a face-to-face meeting and not necessarily online.
- If you write content that solicits an action, you will notice more hits to your site or increase in phone calls.
- You will see an increase in personal emails if your email is listed on your site.
- Ultimately, you will see more new clients and increased revenue.
My point here is stay above the apathy that is occurring on social media these days. Make sure you are writing and delivering great content and don’t get so focused with online metrics that you miss out on seeing the value of social media in other areas.
