The options are right in front of our eyes. Customers are in control, and they have many options today. Once the time is right, customers make the decision to move and do not look back.
Weekend Project – Cutting the Cable
I was reminded of this situation this past weekend. I finally found an option that worked for me on cutting the cable cord. Believe me, I had been looking for almost two years for a solution. I wanted something, simple, affordable and sustainable. I had considered many options, but usually, one piece was missing in this equation. The big drawback to me was giving up the DVR. I know there are a lot of packages out there that have a DVR, but for me, it was about waiting till the investment came down. I did not want to buy an expensive piece of hardware.
A friend talked to me about combining Amazon Fire TV and Sony Vue. After checking these two options out, I quickly decided this direction actually made sense on many levels. Simple, affordable and it included a DVR in the cloud.
Huge Takeaway Here
Right now customers have many options out there. I am continually working on trying to come up with simpler service choices and processes. Going simple is what clients are asking for. I can only speak for my company, but we have made simple processes very complicated for a variety of reasons.
People are actively searching for better products and services. In this case, both Amazon and Sony have made the process very simple. Combined together, these two products offer a very compelling alternative to cable television.
This is the other big takeaway. If we as leaders of our companies rest on our laurels, we should not be surprised if someone comes in and sweeps up our clients. It can happen quite quickly. We need to continue to reinvent our businesses.
If you are considering a move away from cable, you really should look at this option. It is very affordable, and I could not be happier with the ultimate solution. Just in time for the Superbowl.
