I have many projects that I am working on, and there are always issues that arise, but the projects that I have found to be most successful are those where someone or a group came together and made a difference. Many times, I place too much focus on planning and budgeting. Without the right people, it does not matter.
Inevitably, there are going to be delays and miscommunication, but I know if I have the right individuals in place, I can overcome a lot of these delays and communication issues.
I am finding that today if you want to make a difference, you need to work with the best and continuing to work at developing a great team.
I believe people are troubled by their day-to-day interaction with the information they are receiving. Today, people are shaped by quick facts, breaking news titles and communication that is short and often misinterpreted. The information age is bringing about a whole new human dynamic of fast facts and less quality communication. (just my opinion). Too many people are not taking messages to heart.
People say they want training, but they want specific training on only those items they deem necessary to them.
Building knowledge is a hard process today because people are questioning the value. I think this is a reflection of how disinterested people are becoming on news information and school. People do not want to give up their time unless they know they are receiving valued information.
It is imperative for Leaders to provide a “True Vision” of the future.
Today, many people are nervous about their companies and their positions. Mergers and acquisitions are happening at a rapid pace. Many long-standing companies are falling and falling fast: Sears, JC Penny, Sports Authority, Borders, Yahoo, and others.
This vision needs to look at future sales offerings, organizational direction, and future company resource investments.
People want to belong to something special.
To take a business forward, it is imperative that people not only engaged, but they know they belong. People should understand the business aspirations and their expectations on their job and involvement.
If you’re a leader, your whole reason for living is to help human beings develop – to really develop people and make work a place that’s energetic and exciting and a growth opportunity, whether you’re running a Housekeeping Department or Google. I mean, this is not rocket science.
