Word of Mouth Marketing has been around for a long time, with the advent of online marketing and social media these concepts have taken on a whole new meaning. Your successful online marketing inititatives msut address buyers and advocates.
Clients
People need to buy your products or services. These are your most important people. You must take care of them once you have been given the opportunity to sell to them. Your marketing strategies must reach these type of people, no question. These people are the life-blood of your company.
Advocates
This is the second group of people. Obviously, it is great when these people also are your buyers, but as I am also finding out that these people can be very valuable resources, especially on social media sites. I could name off some people, who have not used my company’s services, but speak very highly of our services and information that we communicate through our blog site. You really cannot have enough people like these, especially on social media sites.
Summary
When you can effectively communicate with these two types of groups, you have the potential for some substantial “Viral Marketing” Experiences. Make sure you are communicating to both groups. Check your message, if you tend to write more to your advocates, you may be not listening close enough to your clients. At the same time, if you want to increase brand awareness, make sure people know more about your company and can recommend your company if presented the opportunity.
