I am in the middle of a great book and I will share more as I read more in Mitch Joel’s book, Ctrl-Alt-Delete. It is an awesome, thought-provoking book which really gets at the heart of how to use digital media and take it to the next level.
People really want more these days. Bloggers like myself are looking for a new vision or approach to take with respect to writing. It is for this reason that I am changing the way I write. I am going to write from the heart and share things near and dear to my experiences.
I talked to a number of business professionals over the past week and I can see that all of us want information that is going to help us. My friends are all trying to surround themselves with forward-thinking people who see the digital change as a huge window of opportunity. I learned that I need to have these type of discussions more with people outside my company. I met one person who manages a Google Adwords Account for a company that pays Google a sum of over $Six Figures a day. (Not a misprint! ) Another company went from being an exclusive catalog company to 80% of its business is generated from sales on the internet. I understand these are transactions, but it takes people to make transactions. There is a huge shift that has happened in the last 10 years. We are in the information, digital age and we need to be closer to our clients than ever before
This week, I am also taking more steps for people to understand the way I think and what my vision looks like for the company. A year ago, I had a white board added to my office. I am using this board to communicate internally my direction for the company and what is important. I need to interact with it more and show others and myself the importance of having a clear direction. It is way too easy to get distracted and to be be reactive. I am working on this.
Sharing is the key..If you have made it through the past four years and you maintain a blog site on a regular basis, you are a hero in my book. It is amazing to me how blogging has always had a bad wrap. I wrote a blog post awhile back, “It all starts with a blog“. There still is a lot of truth to this statement. As company representatives, we need to think critically and share. Blogging is a perfect channel for accomplishing this.
