Everywhere I read the following types of information:
Social Media Experts telling me if you are “not connecting” on social media sites with your clients your are really missing out as a company.
Social Media Experts telling me if you are “not engaging” clients online you are really missing out on opportunities your competitors are taking advantage of.
Social Media Experts also tell me that I better know “where my clients are at on social media” before I absolutely do anything related to social media.
Social Media Experts also tell me that I “should not broadcast” my message out to clients.
Now, I am sure most of you have read these phrases and have been a bit befuddled as to how to get started and better yet, what makes for a good strategy regarding social media.
The truth is, “it’s all about your presence” – You need to find a way to create some type of presence where people will respect you and want to follow you.
The people who find success with social media have worked at building their influence and have captured an audience who want to follow them.
Instead of focusing on engaging, connecting and not broadcasting, try focusing on being more connected, more interesting, different from other people. The only way to do this is to get more active on social media sites.
AnotherĀ tip I will give you is don’t get caught up if no one retweets your information right away or likes your posts. Look more at the bigger picture, you are trying to build your influence on another platform. It takes time to get noticed. From time to time, you might see more activity, but overall the goal should be on building your presence.
Finally, you need to think about “content marketing” – You will see why your website and blog site are critical in building your presence.
“Be an expert in something and start writing” – You will get better over time and will start to build your influence online. This process is something that needs to be a part of your life and not just some one time or quarterly event. Make the move today and you will see results.
