One thing I have learned throughout my career is that if I am going to be successful, I have to do things differently.
This year I am really taking this concept to a new level. No – I will not be talking about resolutions…I am looking for changes in culture.
In the areas of Management
Looking at Worker Productivity – There are far too many distractions with the internet, mobile devices, texting, more and more ways to communicate. Keeping people on task and focused. My goal is to continue to work at a plan that develops people, improves processes and is shareable across the company.
More collaboration outside the office – It is time to connect closer with leaders outside my industry and look for innovative ideas to help each other grow more effectively in the future.
Integrating more mobile technology – Continue to look for ways to implement mobile technology to improve processes and communication.
In the areas of Marketing
Working with Hubspot to get a better handle on traffic coming to our site and being able to react quicker and with more knowledge based on activity.
Continue to listen closely to clients. Surveys are great sources, one-to-one is much better.
Looking at return from tradeshows. Are the right people attending these shows? Which shows are better and why?
Continue to clean-up website to make it more mobile friendly. Fewer clicks, easier to read
Starting more with content and analyzing the distribution of the content through blog sites, social media platforms, traditional media and new media.
Looking at ways to measure influence and how to gain better influence in the industry and geographically. (Work in Process – – More to Come)
Final Thoughts
As I stated earlier this year, 2015 will be a breakout year for a number of companies. I plan to be there. There are plenty of opportunities around us for continued growth. It pains me to see people already sharing negative thoughts regarding the first part of this year. My advice to you, is be aware of news around you, but remain focused on your goals. Develop a project list and stick to it. The landscape is changing quickly and companies are going to need to step up their games if they are going to continue to see success each year.
Make sure you involve people in your planning and set the tone at your company. Many people do not want to take that difficult step of becoming a leader, but it is crucial if you are going to gain your worker’s respect and ultimately your clients’ respect. Be a leader and share your knowledge with others. Time to step up our games and achieve some big goals in 2015.
